1. Pan-European Hackathon to develop innovative solutions to overcome societal challenges related to coronavirus

The European Commission and EU member states have today launched a call for participation in a pan-European Hackathon to connect innovators, partners and buyers across Europe to develop innovative solutions to coronavirus.

  1. Dream the future and apply for the EIC Pathfinder Open funds

With a budget of €196.2 million , the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot Pathfinder Open has launched a bottom-up call for proposals. Due to the current crisis, the deadline for submission of applications has been extended to 03 June 2020, 17:00 (Brussels local time).

  1. Commission approves additional support via Horizon 2020 to strengthen priorities, including coronavirus research

The Commission has adopted an update of the 2020 Work Programme of Horizon 2020, the EU’s research and innovation programme to allocate increased funding to its priorities, including urgently needed research and innovation projects into the coronavirus.

  1. Horizon 2020 calls be extended

Extensions will be applied to Horizon 2020 calls with original deadlines from today until 15 April. No extensions will apply to the IMI and EIC pilot calls. Further details will be published on the call and topic pages on the Funding and Tenders Portal. IMPORTANT UPDATE: The #eicAccelerator call has now also been extended, until Friday 20 March at 5pm CET.

  1. The EUvsVirus hackathon

The EUvsVirus hackathon offers a common organizational and technical framework in which the participants can get involved online and develop prototypes and solutions for technically, politically and socially relevant issues in the context of the Coronavirus crisis. It aims at collectively developing innovative solutions, e.g. high tech, low tech, hardware and software, using biotech, digital tech, societal science and other innovation domains. There are five areas that have been identified as targets for these innovative solutions: Health & LifeBusiness ContinuitySocial & Political CohesionRemote Working & EducationDigital Finance, and Other.
