EURAXESS

Services for Researchers on the Move

What it is

EURAXESS — Researchers in Motion is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the countries taking part in the European Union’s Framework Programme for research. It gives scientific researchers access to a full range of information and support services for developing a research career in Europe or staying connected with it.

EURAXESS is not a project funding scheme. It provides access to the research job market, helps researchers advance their careers in another European country, and supports research organisations in finding talent. All EURAXESS network services are free of charge.

Albania’s national portal is www.euraxess.al, recognised as such by the European Commission in its list of EURAXESS national portals. The national portals exchange information with the European portal, so a position published here becomes visible across the whole network.

The National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation is the only EURAXESS Service Centre in Albania.

Objectives

  • To ease researcher mobility, making it possible to exchange knowledge across national borders.
  • To lower the administrative barriers researchers and their families face when relocating.
  • To support researchers’ career development and the integration of the Albanian research space into the European one.

Who it is for

  • Scientific researchers and academic staff in the Republic of Albania who intend to develop their career in another European country.
  • Foreign researchers coming to Albania, together with their families.
  • Universities and research institutions looking to recruit researchers.

What it offers

Jobs and funding. The portal publishes vacancies for researchers and academic staff, and funding opportunities.

Information and assistance. The portal covers fourteen practical and professional topics for researchers on the move: residence permits and accommodation; childcare and schooling; family and pregnancy; health and medical care; information about the country and the media; language courses; transport; the research landscape; funding and the economy; intellectual property rights; recognition of diplomas; social insurance; taxation; and work permits.

The Charter and Code for Researchers. The portal presents the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers — the documents that set out the rights and responsibilities of researchers, employers and funders.

Personalised assistance. The Service Centre offers researchers on the move and their families help with every matter connected to the mobility experience.

How to use it

The services are provided without an application and free of charge. Information, job vacancies and funding opportunities are published on the national portal www.euraxess.al. For personalised assistance, contact the Service Centre at NASRI.

Developing the services

NASRI is a beneficiary in the European project ERA TALENT — Platform for career development of researchers in Europe (no. 101103476), which aims to support communication of the European Research Area and to develop further the services offered by the existing EURAXESS network. Its objective is to support researchers’ career development in Europe, widening career paths in academia, industry and business.
